This autumn I got an email letting me know that my product submission for the Etsy Design Awards had made it to the finals of the competition. At first I was skeptical, and thought the email was a phishing scam, but when I re-read it I realized it was real! I could not believe it! I had honestly forgotten about my submission, and I couldn't even recall the category I had submitted for.
I was reminded with the email that it was the Kids category that I submitted for and am a finalist for. I was beyond excited, but also very reserved about what might happen. It was an honor to be included in this year's group of finalists!
Although I didn't win, it was still nice to be included with such an amazing group of makers. Next year I will apply again, maybe with a different mobile, but either way, I do need to get some professional photos taken somehow. I do my best with the photos, but I know they could be a million times better, and photo quality is very, very, very important. I know my mobiles are amazing, and I don't need an award for me to know that, but not getting an award does support the idea that I need better photos. So congratulations to the winners of the 2020 Etsy Design Awards!
